The Mission
Rob's Recruits aims to raise funds for the Robert "Rob" Abbinett Jr. Nursing Scholarship at Indiana State University. This scholarship honors Rob's legacy and passion for nursing by providing financial assistance for nursing students. The scholarship prioritizes non-traditional students and military personnel.
The Man
Robert "Rob" Abbinett Jr. was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 25, 1965 and passed away unexpectedly May 11, 2022. He was a quiet man, a humble man, and incredibly hardworking. Rob had a deep responsibility for his country and joined the marines at age 17. He served in the United States Air Force, Marines, Army, and Air Guard for over 34 years of service, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Throughout his career he served many tours of duty around the world including; one in Afghanistan, and two in Iraq.
Rob also worked for the Terre Haute Police Department for 12 years. While working as a police officer Rob attended nursing school at Indiana State University. His nursing career began in oncology and later became an ER nurse at IU Health Methodist and Terre Haute Regional Hospitals. After many years in the ER, Rob became a flight nurse for IU Health Lifeline. He was a dedicated nurse, often working extra shifts in order to ensure the Terre Haute, IU Health Lifeline Base was active and could provide assistance to those in need.

Rob loved fishing! He enjoyed going to Canada with his fishing buddies and fishing on the river in Tennessee. He also spent his free time bargain hunting, growing tomatoes, and building stuff in his garage.
